Group Fitness InstructorThe Beach Club Athletics - Minneapolis, MNOverviewSalary Range $16.37 - $50.00 Hourly Position Type Part TimeDescriptionLocation: The Beach Club Athletics - Minneapolis, MNPay Transparency: $16.37 per administrative hour + $35.00 - $50.00 per group fitness class hour (DOE): Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. Pay depends on factors including site location, specialty, certifications, work experience, and other business needs.Role and ResponsibilitiesGroup Fitness Instructors are expected to teach safe and effective classes for our members and are required to maintain educational standards commensurate with Active Wellness quality.Specific ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsAbility to teach various forms of group fitness classes for general, and active aging populations, such as Yoga, Pilates Mat, cardio and strength-based classes, Barre, core classes, ZumbaAssist members in using safe and effective exercise form during their workoutsSupport, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goalsAttend department meetings and continuing education classes to keep certifications currentMaintain a clean, safe, and orderly fitness environment, picking up towels, water bottles, etc.Ability to conduct classes and activities.Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, squatting and lifting.Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others. Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistanceWork as a TEAM with all other departmentsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorOther FunctionsBe knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered throughout the center.Promote center services and activitiesAssist with cleanliness and upkeep of group fitness equipmentAssist with keeping the center well stocked and cleanAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingsHandle injury and illness and security incident reportingQualificationsQualifications and Education RequirementsAA Degree preferred2 years Group Exercise experience preferred.Cycle, Yoga and Pilates Mat experience are highly preferred.Customer service oriented ability to teach Group Fitness ClassesCurrent nationally recognized Group Fitness Certification or specialty class certificate, specialty class license (i.e. Zumba®, etc.).Must be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer serviceStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryAED/CPR/First Aid CertifiedProof of citizenship or legal statusPhysical and Working ConditionsAbility to take the responsibility for the health and safety of othersAbility to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbsFitness club environmentMust follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standardsBenefitsHealth, Dental and Vision Insurance (Full Time)Health Flexible Spending Account (Full Time)Paid Time Off (Full Time)Parking & Transit Flexible Spending Accounts401(k) (Eligible after 1 year of service + 1000 work hours)Legal Support PlanEmployee Assistance Program & Mental Health Support ServiceComplimentary Club Membership and Discounts on Active Products (where applicable)This job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
